ALTAREA ITALIA was formed in 2001 in Milan, and in 2005 opened its first shopping centre in Rome: Casetta Mattei Center.
ALTAREA ITALIA has expanded by creating partnerships with local companies in a market with two main characteristics: a developed country geographically and culturally close to France, where the number of square metres of shopping centres per inhabitant is below that in France. In 2009, ALTAREA ITALIA will open the urban leisure centre Ponte Parodi, in the port of Genoa.
ALTAREA is involved in residential development in the Ile-de-France region and in the south of France (Bouches-du-Rhône, Var and Alpes-Maritimes). These projects consist of the purchase of land and the construction and sale of residential units. It is not ALTAREA's policy to retain residential units among its assets.
